Ciampino Airport (CIA), whose official name Giovanni Battista Pastine Airport, is the smallest and oldest of the two airports in the city. It is also the closest to the center, but there are not many direct connections. In addition, traffic at certain times can be very intense. But do not worry, it is quite simple and inexpensive to get into town.
Ciampino Airport is located in the south-east area of Rome to the Castelli Romani, near the archaeological sites around the famous Via Appia (Aqueducts Park, Villa dei Quintilli, catacombs ...). It has a single terminal closed after the arrival of the last flight of the evening (around 24.00) and is open for boarding the first flight of the morning (04.00).
