How to get from Rome to Civitavecchia Cruise Terminal

CIVITAVECCHIA ROMA BY TRAIN

The Civitavecchia railways station is connected directly to the most important stations of Rome, especially with the FL5 line leading to Rome Termini, with major intermediate stops as Roma San Pietro, Rome Trastevere and Rome Ostiense.

If, however, you want to reach Fiumicino airport, you have to get off at Roma Trastevere or Roma Ostiense and change to the FL1 line connecting all stations between Orte and Fiumicino. The FL1 line can also be used to reach Rome Tiburtina station.

From Civitavecchia to Rome city you will find a train every 30 minutes. Train is certainly the most convenient way to get from Civitavecchia cruise terminal to Rome city centre.

CIVITAVECCHIA ROMA BY BUS

Rome and Civitavecchia are also connected by COTRAL bus service.

If you want to get quickly to Rome or to any airport, the bus is not a convenient option. The public network service COTRAL is indicated to reach other destinations near Civitavecchia and Tarquinia, Tolfa, Allumiere.

Otherwise, if you have enough time you can easily reach the most important destinations in Rome with a very convenient fare. The frequency is between 30 minutes and 1 hour depending on the line and the day of the week.

CIVITAVECCHIA ROMA BY CAR

The easiest way to go from Rome to Civitavecchia by car is to follow the highway A12. The trip is 1 hour long and the distance is 70 kilometers.

 
Civitavecchia motorway has two exits, respectively called Civitavecchia Nord (North) and Sud (South). Currently the toll costs between 1.20€ and 2.30€.

On the way from Civitavecchia to Rome, you will find Santa Marinella / Santa Severa Cerveteri / Ladispoli, Torrimpietra, Maccarese / Fregene until the junction with the A91 Rome-Fiumicino highway leading to the airport Leonardo da Vinci. Along the route there are several areas with parking, shops, bars and fuel distributors.

Civitavecchia Port is located about 7 km far from the Civitavecchia Sud exit and 5.5 km from Civitavecchia Nord exit. Regardless of which motorway, to reach Rome city you have two alternatives:

Take Torrimpietra exit (toll € 1.20) and follow the Aurelia State Road that meets the GRA (Gran Raccordo Anulare), the ring road of Rome.

Leave the A12 at Maccarese / Fregene exit (toll € 2.30) and continue to the intersection between A12 and Rome-Fiumicino A91. From here follow signs to Rome.

If you don’t want to take the highway, you can reach Rome from Civitavecchia through the Aurelia State Road. You will not have to pay toll, but the trip will be about 1 hour and 50 minutes.
